A Tale of Two ARCS - Preparations underway Blog 145

A very good morning all - back in blogosphere from an unintended absence - pure exhaustion actually!

So just about emerging from the delights of the past few weeks  -  the setting up of Jasmine Street's studio, and the realisation of the Terrace Cafe here at the Granary in the new Icehouse Cultural Quarter. Having spent just a little time savouring the memory of Sunday and then a quiet supper with a couple friends on the Terrace on Monday enjoying the wonderful leftovers I am now geared up to take the next steps for Jasmine Street. She is still a delicate flower! Indeed I was delighted to receive this beautiful Jasmine from my dear friend Maureen at the weekend. Perfect. (The book posing on my little 1950's kidney table is the work of Lech Twardorwski who I am working with on the Sam Beckett commission in Poland next year) I will take more photos of his work and put them on here shortly. His work is breathtaking and epic and I can't wait to spend a month or so next year working with him and a yet to be named actor.

So today also things are hotting up regarding the visit to the Malthouse of our Polish namesake company - ARKA Teatr. Maciej has been working with Josh and I at Arc over the past few days on developing all the materials - and indeed Maciej is coming back next week to pound the streets with flyers and posters! This thing is gaining momentum - although we still have a way to go with our fundraising. Its always a bit of a punt to risk putting on a show with little or no money.(In fact its how we started Arc - and led to our Fringe First).

I am a great believer in taking calculated risks, however these are rarely taken alone. So Maciej, Anoula, Josh and I are upping the ante in attracting more donations to our fund. We still need to raise approximately £2,000. We have received £250 in donations so far and over £300 in yet to be donated pledges. A big thanks to everyone who has committed to help us make this happen! Your support is fantastic and much appreciated. For those of you who are keen to help and be part of what promises to be a great few days - please do make a donation, however small on the campaign site

We are also looking for host families to welcome the Polish Actors and team to their homes in East London from 14 - 19 August. Hosts will have a special reception and an opportunity to do some great international exchanging! Please contact me at carole@arctheatre.com if you would consider hosting! This will make a huge difference to the financial demands on the project! Thanks in advance!

Back to you soon!
